Tech victory
Two boards, one ethic. Refuse the forced prologue. Race the tree off-world. Do not make conquest the only story of winning.
This hangs on The tech tree, Multiplanetary.
See on the treeSid Meier’s Civilization has more than one way to win. Domination erases rivals. Culture and diplomacy stay on the board. Science victory launches toward Alpha Centauri. He has said, on Moonshots, that the only way he ever wins is getting off the planet. He does not start down the culture or relations path. It just seems like the right way to win. Rather than obliterate the other tribes.
The other board is GTA V. The prologue will not let you leave the bank without shooting police. He stopped. Same player, opposite lock: one game requires a moral break to proceed, and he will not take it. The other offers a win that leaves the tribes standing, and he races that tree.
The Book of 42 holds both boards beside the nearest sun. The IAU gave α Centauri B the proper name Toliman on 10 August 2018. The word is Jacob Golius’s 1669 Latin of Arabic al-Ẓulmān, the ostriches, an asterism. Older lists also say Bungula. The pair marks the centaur’s foot. Distance of the AB pair is about 4.34 light-years. No confirmed planet around B. Those are names and measurements. They are not why the node is here. The node is here because two public sentences already name an ethic of progress. After that, the overlay notices TOLIMAN at 42 on reverse reduction, PROXIMA at 42 on full reduction, and Bungula at 111 / 24. CENTAURUS and ALPHA CENTAURI do not print a named seal. The 42.1 km/s is solar escape at 1 AU, which is physics, not a letter-sum.
The only way I ever win is getting off the planet. Tech victory to Alpha Centauri. I never even start going down the culture or relations path. I just get off the planet as fast as I can. Aiming for the Alpha Centauri tech victory. It just seems like the right way to win. Rather than obliterate the other tribes.
How he wins Civilization: get off the planet. Tech victory to Alpha Centauri. He does not start down the culture or relations path. He races the tree off-world rather than obliterate the other tribes. The nearest other sun is the win condition.
