Games have scores. Civilizations have GDP. Neither is a complete account of what a life owes. The working ethic, aligned with a public Musk line about doing the right thing, is that unobserved goodness still counts.

This branch is no longer only a gap sticker. In December 2023, and again to Nikhil Kamath in November 2025, he said he stopped GTA V when the only way to proceed was to shoot police. Soft: gamer purity contest. Living: progress that forces a moral break is not progress he will take, even when no one is scoring him.

Whether a designer is watching is the simulation question. Whether you behave as if the watching is not the reason, is the ethical one. They are not the same door. The tech-victory node is the other board: leave without conquest as the only story of winning.

Tried, but didn’t like doing crime. GTA5 required shooting police officers in the opening scene. Just couldn’t do it.

I’ve only played a little bit of GTA because I didn’t like the fact that in GTA V you literally can’t progress unless you kill the police. I actually don’t like killing the NPCs in the video games.
