December 2019: “If life is a video game, the graphics are great, but the plot is confusing & the tutorial is way too long.” The conditional is doing work. He does not say it is. He says what would follow if it were.

Same day: we are literally a brain in a vat, and the vat is the skull. That second sentence does not require a simulator. It only requires nerves. Together the two posts hold a fork: either the vat is biology, or the vat is a machine, and from the inside the graphics are similar.

Player, avatar, developer: those roles only become empirical if we find the menu. Until then they are a way of asking who is looking.
